Oregon Coast

Crossing Roseburg, I forgot the oil – yikes!!!  Fully gassed, yet not another station in sight, we drove toward the Oregon Coastal highway, trying to make it to the dunes before nightfall.  Around Reedsport, we heard some moans.  Back under the hood, I checked and filled the Escape Van without too much trouble.

Over my shoulder, however, I noticed some eerily watchful eyes.  Henry was feeling uncomfortable with two guys and their pit bull, so we drove, and drove, and drove.

Ahhh, Cannon Beach, Arch Cape and Manzanita,

home away from home, and home to the amazing Yolk restaurant.  When we bit into our lamb burger garnished with grilled onions, garlic, and kale, it felt like we hadn’t eaten in months.  Feeling so blessed, now we just needed home.  But in the meantime, I was bound to savor the last moments of fun.  And although Henry angrily conceded to one more night away from home, the sound of the surf and the texture of the sand pulled Henry in, too, for a lasting moment of fun.
