Eating Hypoallergenic on the Road

What is a hypoallergenic diet?  We’re still trying to figure it out.  But when allergies persist and result in rashes and discomfort, you go to the doctor for help.  Dr. Loren Riccio of Fern Valley Natural Health in Bellevue, WA recommended that Henry try it, and he agreed.

So let me run through the list of NOs:  No corn, No sugar, No gluten, No dairy, No nightshades, No citrus, No beef, pork, or shellfish, No peanuts, No soy…. I’m sure I’m missing others on the list but it’s reminiscent of an AIP diet with some caveats.

Nevertheless, we are managing to make it work with restaurants like Chickpea in Salem, OR or Wildflower in Arcata, CA.  But even with a vegan or vegetarian restaurant, it is extremely difficult, as much of the food has sugar, corn oil, or soy in it.  We did find a joyful moment at NW Raw in Ashland, OR.  It definitely had Henry smiling… especially for the avocado cocoa pudding and rice flour waffles.
