Mesa Verde by Henry
Mesa Verde is the most amazing place in Colorado. In fact, four states can be seen from one plateau! Cliff dwellings dot the surrounding mesas. The balcony house, a large cliff dwelling with two kivas, held six families in one structure. Each living quarters was equipped with a kitchen, a washroom, and a bedroom. Recently, over 600 cliff dwellings have been found and a large amount of artifacts. Mesa Verde is definitely a place you should visit.

Around 7:00 am, we arrived at Mesa Verde, perfect timing to photograph the rocky landscape. I slowly meandered to the welcome center for tickets, and amazingly, was not the first person in line. Not the first, second, or third, there were amusement park lines with adult enthusiasts talking to the ranger about the best vantage point and tour.
The park ranger recommended her personal favorite, a tour of the Balcony House cliff dwelling touched by the morning sun, and the Palace tour, a dwelling built in the 1200’s housing an entire village of inhabitants. Each had a uniqueness, the Balcony House with its tunnel and cliff ladders and the Palace with its seasoned and knowledgeable ranger guide, who walked us through time. Continuing his quest to engage in Pueblo knowledge, at the archeological museum, Henry became certified with the Ranger Guide program, a definite recommendation at every national park.

All in all, it was one of the best memories of our vacation, and we even saw a bear!

Amazing!!! Thanks for sharing. We read a little about Mesa Verde earlier this semester, and it’s so awesome that you got to visit.
